How to use Uninflate

Use the search box in the top bar on any page, or open the search page directly. Search looks across the entire catalog — not just one category — so you can find any product from a single box. Search matches anywhere in the name or brand — typing "charms" will find Lucky Charms, and "cola" will find Coca-Cola.

Type what you're looking for, then press Enter or click the Search button to see your results. (Results don't appear until you run the search — there's no pop-up list as you type.)

When you type several words without quotes, each word must appear somewhere in the product name or brand. For example, dole pineapple finds products that match both "dole" and "pineapple." To search for an exact phrase, put it in quotes — "dole pineapple" only matches products where those two words appear together in that order.

Once your results load, you can narrow them further with the Category filter or jump to a letter of the alphabet. Click any product card to open its detail page, where you'll see every price we have for that item, sorted lowest first.

The Browse page organizes the full catalog into categories like Produce, Meat & Seafood, and Household Essentials. Main categories start collapsed — expand one to see its subcategories, then click a subcategory to see its products.

When you open a product or your list from Browse and come back, you’ll return to exactly where you were — same category, same filters, same spot on the page.

On Browse and Search, use the filter bar to narrow results to a specific category and sort products A–Z or Z–A. The category filter only shows categories that actually appear in your current results, so you’re never filtering into an empty list.

On the Browse page, once you’ve picked a subcategory there’s a Search within this category box. As you type, a short list of matching product names drops down — click one to jump straight to it. (This live suggestions list only appears inside a category on Browse, not on the main search page, where you run the search with Enter or the Search button.) You can also use the letter chips to jump to products starting with a particular letter.

Every product card shows the lowest price we have for that item, so the best deal is always the number you see first.

Click Add to list on any product card or product page. Adding a product adds the item itself — not a specific store — so we can always price it at the cheapest store available to you. Everything you add lands on your item list, and your My lists page has five tabs:

• Item list — your running collection of the things you buy. There are no quantities and no total here; each item just has a delete button. Tick the items you want (or use “Select all”) and send them to any shopping list, or add the whole list at once.
• Our suggestions — savings we found on your items. Covered in detail in the Savings suggestions section below.
• Weekly, Monthly, and Recipe — your three real shopping lists. Each item has and quantity buttons, a line price, and a delete button, and the list keeps a running total.

Each shopping list can be renamed (up to 18 characters so the tabs stay readable) and limited to the stores you allow. You can also lock a list to a single store — rename the tab to that store, and the tab shows the list total along with how many of your items that store actually carries a price for. That makes it easy to see, at a glance, what one trip to each store would cost.

Every list is grouped by category (Produce, Deli & Prepared Foods, Bakery, and so on) so like products sit together as you walk the store. The Recipe list works well for a favorite meal: add every ingredient once and it stays priced at the lowest available store prices, so you always know how much it costs to prepare that meal before you shop.

On your item list, each item shows which of your shopping lists it's already on (as small tags), and a dropdown lets you add it to any list that doesn't have it yet — so you can place an item on Weekly, Monthly, and Recipe at once without leaving the page.

Your item list is saved on your device automatically, and once you sign in it follows you to any device along with your three shopping lists.

Your list isn’t a static snapshot. Each time you open it, we look up the current prices for every item and show your total at the lowest price among the stores you allow. If a store changes its price, your list total changes with it.

Behind the scenes we refresh prices on a regular schedule. Stores can still change prices between updates, so always confirm the shelf price in the store — our Disclaimer has the details.

The Our suggestions tab watches every item on your item list for three kinds of savings, shown in this order:

• On sale now — when an item you already save goes on sale at a store near you, we show the sale price, the store name and city, and how much you'd save. You can add the sale item straight to a shopping list while the price lasts. If you try to add it to a list that doesn't include the sale's store (for example, a Kroger-only list when the sale is at Meijer), we'll warn you and ask you to pick a different list or confirm anyway.
• Better-value sizes — we compare your item against other sizes of the exact same product (same brand, same variety) and show which one costs less per ounce or per count. Choose Replace to swap it on your item list, or Ignore to hide that suggestion for good. Ignoring never changes your item list.
• Alternative brands — for everyday basics like milk, eggs, butter, sugar, flour and canned or frozen vegetables, we look for a different brand of the very same thing (same fat level, egg size, organic or not, and so on) that costs at least 10% less per unit at a store near you. It's on by default; you can turn it off on your account page.

Each suggestion card links to both products' detail pages, and shows which of your shopping lists already hold the item — so you can drop a sale item onto the right list in one click. Suggestions only show sales at stores near you, and they refresh automatically as prices update.

Open any of your three shopping lists and use Take it shopping above the items. (The item list and suggestions don't have this — they aren't shopping trips.)

When a list allows more than one store, your items are grouped by store first — nearest store at the top, then the next, with items that don't have a price yet at the bottom. Each store section shows the store name, city, item count, and a subtotal, and has its own Just this store: buttons so you can send, print, or share only one store's items at a time. (Lists locked to a single store stay one flat list, as before.)

• Send to my phone checklist — on iPhone and Android this opens your phone's normal share sheet, so you can drop the list straight into Reminders, Notes, Google Keep, a to-do app, or a text message to whoever is shopping. Every item comes across as its own tick-off line with the quantity and price.
• Print — a clean sheet with a check box beside each item, grouped by store and then by category, with each store's subtotal and the overall total at the bottom. Each store starts on a fresh page so you can hand one page to each shopper.
• Email — opens a new message with the whole list already written out, ready to send to yourself or your family.
• Copy — puts the list on your clipboard to paste anywhere.

Prices in a shared or printed list are a snapshot from the moment you sent it. Open the list again on Uninflate for the current prices.

Use the store filter at the top of your list to include only the chains you actually shop. Select “All stores” to compare everywhere, or pick specific chains — every item re-prices instantly and your total updates.

Store brands (like Kroger or Meijer brand) often cost less for the same basic item. See Alternative brands under Savings suggestions above.

Prices vary by store and region, so your location matters. Signed-in users can set a ZIP code on the account page to see prices from stores near them. You can change it anytime — handy when you’re traveling and want to price your list at your destination.

Not sure of the ZIP where you are? Tap Use my current location under the ZIP box. Your browser asks permission, we fill in the nearest ZIP, and you tap Save profile to switch your prices to stores near you. We only check your location when you tap the button, and we never store your exact position — just the ZIP you save.

Without a ZIP, you’ll see typical prices from our default store instead.

By default we use the closest location of each chain near your ZIP code. If you’d rather shop a different branch, open Find a store from your account page or your shopping list, enter a ZIP code, and choose Make this my store next to the location you want. Your pick is saved to your account and used for every future price check — it stays put even when we refresh nearby stores.

You can pick one location per chain, so you might compare your favorite Kroger against your favorite Jay C. Use Use closest to my ZIP to go back to automatic, or Remove chain to drop a chain from your comparisons. New picks show prices within about 24 hours; until then those items say we’re still gathering the price.

Sign in, then visit your account page to update your display name or ZIP code anytime. Changes save instantly and your prices reflect the new ZIP right away.

You can delete your account yourself anytime. Sign in, open your account page, scroll to “Delete your account,” and confirm. This permanently removes your profile, ZIP code, and shopping list — it can’t be undone. You’re welcome to sign up again later with the same email address.
